SPECIAL EVENT PODCASTING
Media Services provides audio and video podcasting services for conferences, guest speakers, special presentations, and even department training courses. Media Services has two dedicated classroom-style studios installed with the latest video and lighting equipment necessary to ensure the highest quality video production for your podcast. Powerpoint presentations and various graphics can be easily incorporated into podcasts done in these rooms. Media Services can also bring our equipment and expertise to your space.
Once your podcast is created you can make it available to your audience for viewing at their convenience on any computer, iPod, or MP3 player. Podcasts can also be captioned for full accessibility. If you would like to know more or get an estimate, please contact us.
ACADEMIC AUDIO PODCASTING
Create audio recordings of your lectures called podcasts that students can download and listen to on any computer, iPod, or MP3 player to review and study. Academic podcasts are intended to supplement lectures by allowing students to concentrate on lecture content with the knowledge that they can revisit the lecture word for word at a later time.
Academic Podcasting is provided free of charge by Media Services and the Instructional Web Development Center. To learn all the facts, or to sign-up for academic podcasting, please visit the podcast.ucsd.edu website.
WEBCASTING
Webcasting is the process of capturing, encoding, and streaming video and audio content so that it can be viewed on the Internet. Webcasting makes it possible to create an online video archive of your classes or special events, or stream them live and in real-time over the internet, or both. Webcasts can be viewed using free downloadable RealPlayer software.
Please note:
When webcasting you must establish a hosting account with the Instructional Web Development Center (IWDC). Call them at 858.822.3315. There is a $50.00 per month hosting fee for non-instructional events, which includes 1 GB of storage.
